From the President

January has come and gone. We had a really good January PDM with David Muncaster and his topic “Getting buy-in from all levels”. I definitely could relate to what David spoke about when he introduced the Languages of Appreciation Quiz. Not to mention the tips for energizing leaders.

As we prepare for the pending snow falls we have another dinner meeting that I am looking forward to when we welcome Doris Bently. Doris is a published author in her book “Basic to Brilliant”. She will have copies of her book for sale on February 27th  as well as on her website: Doris is also principal at Centrepoint Career “The talent management consultancy for small and mid-market enterprises”.

Please make sure to sign up on the website for what is sure to be an interesting evening on February 27th at Newlands Golf course in Langley.

While I’m on the topic of the website, we mentioned at the January PDM if members could visit the website and review their contact information and ensure your information is up to date. This will help us keep you connected with what is new with the chapter. We don’t send out a ton of emails during the month it helps keep our house in order and serve our members the best we can.

Another exciting event on a personal level is my apics membership is due to renew this month. I’m excited to renew my membership under the newly branded ASCM and the membership benefits offered. In the coming months, the Board will pass on as much new material and information as possible.

Finally, I would like to put the word out to the membership that the Board of Directors is always looking for members that are looking to give back—be it a friend of or as a member of the Board.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible later this month. Stay safe during the snowy weather.

As we come to the end of February it seems winter has just began after a week of snow and chaos in the streets and a forecast for more this week. 

We have been fortunate that a local company in Chilliwack has invested in their staff and are hosting an internal training course that will begin this week. I am exciting to see this interest in the Fraser Valley in developing a team to assist in operations running smoothly and building the common vocabulary among the team members. 

It is an exicitng time in Supply Chain as I have noticed many positions locally for production planners, buyers, supply chain managers, and directors of supply chain. Whether these are new or exisiting positions being filled it does show the market for Supply Chain professionals is healthy and in my opinion growing in our area. 

As a non-profit organization we are here to help you and your organization provide educational opportunities to ensure that your organization is ready for the future and the rapidly changing marketplace and economy.
