There is a huge opportunity that’s being missed by many small to mid-sized manufacturers in B.C., clouded behind many disappointments.

Decayed 5S attempts and abandoned Lean implementation are all too common these days. Owners, managers and employees are left frustrated and project-shy. Some owners have even banned the "Lean" 4-letter word from their businesses! Time, money, enthusiasm and trust were invested, anticipating a swift return.

But for BC Manufacturers and especially Okanagan businesses, there is an opportunity that's too easily overlooked. Not just to record some speedy “Big Wins” but to boost the competitive edge and secure the future of the business. Owners and Managers do not appreciate to what extent these are at risk now and tomorrow. They simply do not know what they don’t know!

This month’s PDM will start with a plant tour at FormaShape - one of North America's largest and most modern manufacturers of Composite Fiberglass. In its operations FormaShape combines key principles of ISO 9001 with lean manufacturing methodologies in order to provide clients with professional engineering and manufacturing services that exceed expectations.

In the afternoon the baton will be handed over to Peter Jeffrey who will talk to us about using lean culture as a catalyst to change.

Mr. Jeffrey has a broad range of executive management experience, having held senior positions with various companies.
